Liam really wanted to color this morning before breakfast. I didn’t mind too much since he actually slept in some today. I guess we’ll have to get some black out curtains because he seems to always sleep later when it’s cloudy outside.
Inside the Fort
Because I had so much fun yesterday playing around with light, I really felt the need to do it again. I really wanted to make one of these photos my picture of the day, but I felt like it would have been really repetitive to have a photo that was so similar. Today, Liam was playing in the fort cave again (and yes we didn’t tear it down last night). This time I was able to capture him playing with some of his transformers while inside it. I’m so glad he’s enjoying the fort cave, but I’m definitely looking forward to some time when it’s not raining and we can go outside again.
Project 365 – Day 40
Something outside has caught Izzy’s attention. And yes the fort is still going strong. Maybe the rain will stop soon and we’ll be able to do more stuff outside.
Low Light. Why I love my Canon 6D
Last year when I first started working in the hospitals as a newborn photographer, I knew that I would be in the market for a new camera. I had a decent one and as we all know, it’s not the camera but the person behind it who makes the photo. But I needed something that had a little more capabilities than my Canon Rebel T2i. I looked at several different options but I finally settled on a Canon 6D.
There were a few reasons why I choose this camera over others. One reason was because it was a full frame sensor. Basically what that means is that when you put a 35mm lens on the camera, the sensor will see the full 35mm. On a crop sensor (like the Rebel T2i) it literally crops the image within the camera so you’re not always getting the whole picture. Of course there are times when a crop sensor is a great feature to have, but I was really looking for the full frame at the time for portraits.
The other reason why I choose the 6D was because of its ISO capabilities. Seriously this camera is a dream. Never had I imagined shooting at 2500 ISO or higher and barely have any noise within the photo. The last two photos from my Project 365 are examples of what I’m talking about. I would have never been able to accomplish the same result with the Rebel T2i. And when I’m in the hospital and there isn’t much light to work with sometimes, the higher ISOs come in handy. I still have to use my flash occasionally, but I really love when I can just use the light that is available.
Project 365 – Day 39
One of my favorite things to do as a child was a to build a HUGE fort in the living room. Apparently Liam has inherited that same love. It’s been awhile since we built one at the house, but I think he’s thoroughly enjoying it on this hot/humid day.
Project 365 – Day 38
Liam wanted to with some Play-doh this afternoon after I got home from work. He is really making it difficult to get rid of some of these old toys lately.
Project 365 – Day 37
Another old toy made a reemergence this morning. I’m surprised that he still fits through it. We also made it out to Ikea this afternoon which is why this update is coming so late.
Project 365 – Day 36
Sometimes you have to appreciate the quiet times. Izzy and Liam are both enjoying some time on the couch this afternoon. Also, I am 10% finished today!
Generation of Disney Lovers
When my dad passed away 2 years ago, we went through hundreds of photos. The one that stuck to me the most was this one of him and myself on Dumbo at Disney World. After I showed the photo to Stephen, he said to me that he never pictured my dad as someone who would like Disney. That statement couldn’t have been farther from the truth. He was just a big kid at heart, and where better to express your inner child than Disney. That’s the great thing about going to Disney as an adult, you get to be a 4 year old again! So when I knew that we were going back to Disney this last February, I knew that I had to recreate the photo on Dumbo with Liam. I hope that someday he will keep up the tradition and we can have a photo of him with his own children.
Project 365 – Day 35
Sometimes toys like to make a reemergence which always makes getting rid of old toys hard.
